I am pretty rough on glasses since I wear them pretty much 12 hours a day 7 days a week and was attracted to Nectar by the warranty with the plan of wearing them for work and saving my high dollar Costas for my playtime on the water. On the trail, if I’m not wearing mine, I’ll usually put them in the soft bag they come with (I bring this for glasses and to clean camera lens), and have them at the top of my pack somewhere that there’s a little natural nook among my gear, maybe right up against the back at the base of the extension collar right behind my neck, or wrap them in your mid layer or rain gear. All of our sunglasses are made with eco-friendly, recycled plastics and covered with a lifetime warranty. I’m way more mindful of my sunglasses when I’m on the trail than when I’m in my day to day life and commuting. If you can care for UL gear made of delicate wispy materials, you shouldn’t have that much trouble keeping sunglasses alive. I don’t really understand the idea that sunglasses on the trail are on a path (intended) to an inevitable destruction. Some people are sensitive to those micro distortions of crappy sunglasses and experience eye fatigue and headaches. There’s more to sunglass optics than blocking UV rays and polarization. r/Hammocks, /r/HammockCamping, and /r/ULHammocking Trail Specific Subs /r/PacificCrestTrail /r/AppalachianTrail /r/CDT /r/JMT Related Subsįor buying, selling, and trading ultralight backpacking gear.
